Our Orchestra

The  orchestra was established in 1960  when  the Bilthoven Orchestra and the Utrecht Orchestra merged to  form the United Utrecht Symphony Orchestra (the VUSO). Since that time  we have had a number of  well known conductors including George Lindeman, Martin van Laar and Adriaan  Bonsel. The choice  of repertoire and style of performance have always reflected the individual  personalities of our  conductors, and all have made an important contribution to the musical  development of  the VUSO.

Reinier Bavinck has been our conductor since 1993. He is enthusiastic, patient and he loves working  with an orchestra.

Although  the pleasure of making music together is our main goal, a lot of hard work is also put into achieving the highest possible standard.

At present we have over 30 members, ranging in age from 20+ to 70+.  They live in Utrecht and wide surrounding
